XBMC missing PVR addons

Postby pampa » Sun Nov 24, 2013 10:25

Hi,

well I have posted this topic in the "Software in general"-section , but still no answer. Maybe the wrong section?

My Question: Is there a way to include the pvr-addon's to the sabayon XBMC built? There should be an active official pvr-addon repository right from the start. Since XBMC Frodo these addons are in the official code. I'm no Sabayon expert, may be a flag is missing??

I see MythBox in my list of available addons for xbmc.

I know they have support for different pvr stuff, which I think is what you might be talking about. I'm not sure if the mythtv support conflicts with them or not, but here's a gentoo forum post about it. http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-92 ... art-0.html

I also see unstable portage has an addon package available, but it looks to be very bleeding edge, so I can't say I recommend installing it, but if you wish to try, it's there... http://gpo.zugaina.org/media-plugins/xbmc-addon-xvdr

Yes, your links makes sense. But since Frodo 12.0 they merged the XBMC and the PVR-repositories togehter as the official build.
I read about some ubuntu-threads where the same problem appeared. After an install from the ubuntu repositories in the addon-section the official pvr-repo was missing. The xbmc.org-repo was installed as expected.

I think there are no missing use-flags or stuff like that. All what is missing is the linking to one of the two (!) official addon-repos. XBMC just don't see the addon-repo. In this repo there are all these mythtv....tvheadend etc. pvr-clients. If you install one of them manually, the tvheadend for example, it works like charm. But to do this manually you have to download a .zip file from .dotnetcoders (i think that was it) site which isn't maintained anymore. So it's just a question of time when these stuff is outdated.

Settings -> LiveTV

I don't think I saw Settings -> LiveTV before...but then I switched the xbmc skin I was using and noticed it. I even switched back to Confluence (which I think is the skin I was using before) and I see it there now.

So, try switching your xbmc skin and see if the LiveTV section under settings shows up. You'll have to have a backend setup before you can do anything useful with it, but I believe that's what you are looking for.

No. Here is a link which shows the way it should look like after a fresh xbmc install:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Add-on_manager

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Fi ... addon2.png Thats it.

But in Sabayon the PVR-Addon-repo isn't (!) there. Whould be nice to have it, because every other distro have it right out of the box.

I certainly see what you are saying. I attempted to install xbmc from portage, but it failed to compile. I read that it has issues compiling when any libav files are on the system, so I'm sort of stuck in my investigation.
