Cannot log in after performing system update

Postby snaremiguel » Fri Aug 16, 2013 6:21

Hello,

I just installed the latest Sabayon and then followed the fresh-install upgrade instructions at http://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title=En:Entropy#Fresh_Install_-_What_to_do.3F. After the upgrade, the restart and shutdown buttons were un-clickable, and so I think I had to do a forced reboot. Upon reboot, I was not asked for the password for my encrypted partition, and once I entered my credentials at the log-in screen, I get a brief black screen, and am presented with the log-in prompt again, ad infinitum.

I tried going into safe mode, and reinstalling kdelibs, per the most recent known issue at http://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title=Known_Issues#2013-06-07_My_KDE_applications_are_broken.21.21.21, but I am getting something like "Invalid filesystem encoding ANSI..." and also "Please execute LC_ALL-en_US.UTF-8 /usr/bin/equo install kde-base/kdelibs..." and "Trying to force "en_US.UTF-8." There is no response from equo.

I would love to be able to use Sabayon-- can someone please point me in the right direction?

Hello all,

The issue might be my laptop...or not. Well, whatever it is, I decided to give Kubuntu a shot. I'll try Sabayon on my desktop in a few days.
