strange behaviour gcc

Post by manifesto » Sat Apr 13, 2013 21:10

Hi,

I cant use gcc as user :

Code: Select all

[email protected]:~$ gcc
gcc: error: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.7.2/vanilla.specs: No such file or directory
I check a bit and found that in gcc-config I can find x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.7.2 but no gcc-4.7.2 is installed.
I select another one x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-4.6.3-vanilla and now i can run gcc as root, for the user I found this variable :
GCC_SPECS=/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.7.2/vanilla.specs
I need to re-login or unset this and gcc is working.
I remember some post about migration of gcc is it still in process ?
I am the only one to have this problem ?

You are not alone. But, there is another thread going related to 'gcc' which explains that latest update screwed gcc. Somehow gcc-profile settings got updated but the required gcc package was not installed, Quick solution

$ sudo equo install gcc

*is glad to see that the wiki is referred*

sudo is not recommended in Sabayon.

Code: Select all

$ su
# equo install gcc

I am also seeing (I Suspect) these changes screwing around with my QTcreate tools.
The configs in that tool uses g++ and gdb and they were not responding correctly.
I had to manually reconfigure the tools as they wouldn't run the code and deploy it to the screen.
Hopefully, once these changes catch up, tools will work correctly again.

BTW
These same tools and this same machine in different partitions running under Slack 14, Debian 7 and Sid as well as Calculate Linux work fine.

@mohan43u had the link that was the Key for me and a Solution with QtCreator..
Here it is

http://forum.sabayon.org/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=29638
in which @sabayonino suggests
Install full gcc:4.7.2
# equo i gcc:4.7

I think you've only installed gcc-base that has some libs not full gcc
sabayonino was Correct.
and the results was

Code: Select all

 >>    ## Cleaning: sys-devel/gcc-4.7.2-r1
>>  @@ Installation complete.
>> @@ No configuration files to update.
bobs-sl410 sqlpython #
Here is a Happy Compile and Deploy of simple Widget after being Altered with QtCreator.. :D
