Driver ATI Free working, but fail sometimes. [Solved]

Post by albfneto » Fri Mar 22, 2013 21:06

I have an Sabayon, installed with driver xf86-ati-video, all working sometimes, if...but see below,,,

the system have an /etc/X11/xorg.conf, but if this xorg.conf is used, then.. no X, xdm or kdm gives only a black screen and return to login prompt...

/etc/init.d/xdm restart restarts it, but gives the same black screen...

But if in /etc/X11, [i]xorg.conf[/] file is deleted, removed or renamed, then all working great, without xorg.conf.

But the issue is, when rebooted, the xorg-conf file is automatically "recriated" and no more X, black. Sems that system working well without xorg.conf, but the same system "remake" xorg.conf.

Ciao Alberto! :alien:
Try removing x-setup from runlevel. You won't have xorg.conf recreated anymore, I hope. :cheese:
