Extra option for equo conf update [Solved]

Postby dunsurfin » Mon Feb 04, 2013 9:46

Sometimes, like just now, equo conf update has two or more files that require updating; Some to be discarded and some not. So it is necessary to run equo conf update twice.

Would it be useful to have a third option along the lines of "automerge or discard all the files asking you one by one".

You can handle the files one by one by selecting their number.

Forgive my ignorance but where does the file number go? Is it before the -9 (if I want to discard) or after? And then do I just leave a space before the next file number and choice? It's not something I would like to make a mistake on.

please see the follow example :

Code: Select all
> Aggiornamento trovato: /etc/entropy/._cfg0000_client.conf
>> C'è 1 file di configurazione che ha bisogno di un aggiornamento
>> Per favore esegui: equo conf update
sabayon ~ # equo conf update

# equo conf update
>>  @@ Scansione del filesystem...
>> Aggiornamento trovato: /etc/entropy/._cfg0000_client.conf
>> (1) file: /etc/entropy/._cfg0000_client.conf
>> Per favore scegli un file da aggiornare scrivendo il suo numero identificativo.
>> Altre opzioni sono:
>>   (-1) Esci
>>   (-3) Incorpora automaticamente tutti i file chiedendo uno per uno (merge one by one)
>>   (-5) Incorpora automaticamente tutti i file senza troppe storie (automerge)
>>   (-7) Scarta tutti i file chiedendo uno per uno  (delete one by one)
>>   (-9) Scarta tutti i file senza storie (delete all)
La tua scelta (scrivi un numero e premi Invio):

as you can see (1) file: /etc/entropy/._cfg0000_client.conf can be edit manually typing "1" --> (1) to see all change. Quit from editor and a new menu show othjer options for this configuration file
Code: Select all
>> File selezionato: /etc/entropy/._cfg0000_client.conf
>> Per favore scegli un azione da intraprendere per il file selezionato.
>>   (-1) Torna all'elenco file. (return to the file list)
>>   (1) Sostituisci l'originale con l'aggiornamento (submet)
>>   (2) Cancella l'aggiornamento, mantenendo l'originale così com'è (delete update ; keep original file)
>>   (3) Modifica il file proposto e visualizza le differenze di nuovo (edit and show differences again)
>>   (4) Merge interattivo dell'originale con l'aggiornamento (interactive merge)
>>   (5) Visualizza le differenze di nuovo (show differences again)

Thank you very much for that. Does the same work for two or more files at a time?

if you hav 10 files (config) to update , you have 10 files to list

File List
(1) File.conf 1
(2) File.conf 2
(3) File.conf 3
(4) File.conf 4
(5) File.conf 5
(6) File.conf 6
(7) File.conf 7
(8) File.conf 8
(9) File.conf 9
(10) File.conf 10
[...]
[n] File.conf [n]

Equo options
-1) Esci
>> (-3) Incorpora automaticamente tutti i file chiedendo uno per uno (merge one by one)
>> (-5) Incorpora automaticamente tutti i file senza troppe storie (automerge)
>> (-7) Scarta tutti i file chiedendo uno per uno (delete one by one)
>> (-9) Scarta tutti i file senza storie (delete all)

As you can see "equo uptions" are showed with "-N-Option"

You can choose "n" file to edit typing "[n]" for the file to edit or see its alternative options

Note, that one number is positive, the other negative. So separation is possible.

Thank you all. I have one other machine and it has missed two or three lots of updates. I should have a good equo conf update to practise on. Assuming all goes well I will mark the thread solved.

All went well thank you.
