i think, by the installation of sabayon 7 i made a cross for extra-language files, because i thought it would be good for my german interface. but now i realize that these only contains a lot of extra files of languages which i do not need. so my firefox and thunderbird is full of languagefiles and this comes by the updates with sulfur also.

does somebody know how to turn that of?
thanks! :)

Firefox:

Preferences > General > Manage Add-ons... and remove language extensions you don't want.

Preferences > Content > 'Choose your preferred languages for displaying pages' and remove languages you don't want.

Things to try in Linux:

Uninstall any LibreOffice localisation packages you don't want. For example, if you don't want Vietnamese, uninstall app-office/libreoffice-l10n-vi.

Uninstall any KDE localisation packages you don't need. For example, if you don't want Brazilian Portuguese, uninstall kde-base/l10n-pt_BR.

Uninstall any myspell dictionaries you don't want. For example, if you don't want Zulu, uninstall app-dicts/myspell-zu.

Check if you have got the localization configured the way you want it: Gentoo Linux Localization Guide.

Optional: Rebuild app-text/hunspell with only the languages you want. For example, if you only want Brazilian Portuguese and Castilian Spanish:

Code: Select all

equo install git
emerge --sync
layman -S
layman -d sabayon # Once-only deal.
layman -d sabayon-distro # Once-only deal.
layman -a sabayon # Once-only deal.
layman -a sabayon-distro # Once-only deal.
LINGUAS="pt_BR es_ES" emerge -1v app-text/hunspell
equo rescue spmsync

Open a Konsole/Terminal window, log in as root user, and uninstall the packages you don't want:

Code: Select all

$ su
Password: <---- Enter the root user's password.
# equo remove <package name>

When you've finished removing the packages you don't want:

Code: Select all

# exit
$ exit
