Random Guy posted this link to a video of a cool desktop effect.

If you want to try the Matrix effect on Sabayon 3.2 all you have to do is run this on you Konsole.

Code: Select all
xwinwrap -ni -argb -fs -s -st -sp -a -nf -- /usr/lib/misc/xscreensaver/glmatrix -root -window-id WID

Just close the Konsole session when your done.

Some other xscreensavers I know work with this are

Code: Select all
xwinwrap -ni -argb -fs -s -st -sp -a -nf -- /usr/lib/misc/xscreensaver/gltext -root -window-id WID

Code: Select all
xwinwrap -ni -argb -fs -s -st -sp -a -nf -- /usr/lib/misc/xscreensaver/endgame -root -window-id WID

Code: Select all
xwinwrap -ni -argb -fs -s -st -sp -a -nf -- /usr/lib/misc/xscreensaver/lament -root -window-id WID

Sorry I'm not really sure. I run on xgl because of my ATI graphics card.

If you guys have any questions about running this try the link to Gentoo wiki where I found it.

dont use atlantis

Postby lowboyblue » Sat Dec 09, 2006 23:49

Lessons learned- don't try this with the atlantis screensaver. It took over my whole screen and would not let go. Had to use drastic measures to to kill xwinwrap.

Has anybody figured out how to play movies yet?
I keep getting errors with mplayer and Kmplayer.
