Settings reset from time to time [Solved]

Postby msdobrescu » Sun Sep 25, 2011 9:16

Hello,

I have absolutely no clue why this is happening.
Since I have installed Sabayon 6 K, I had issues with the settings.
First, they become frozen at a certain time, but I couldn't get the specific operation that caused this.
I couldn't make any file association at all.
Then, I have created a new user, removed the old one, and things looked better, back on normal track... apparently.
Now, I have set specific iptables rules, stopping the ufw, which come with the Sabayon setup.
I have disabled it, but it comes to life again and again, without having a relation with the reboots.
The sound gets similar behavior, I set the default card, but sometimes it becomes the last.
I have no idea why, I mostly don't do any new setup, except some weekly upgrades.

This becomes so annoying, I have no time to set again and again rules over the system.

What is it wrong? How could I diagnose the problem?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi, you could check if ufw is set as a startup service, check it with:
(as root)
Code: Select all
rc-update

Keep also in mind that if you don't plan to use ufw you can remove it from your system.

The ufw problem was solved.
The sound is fixed partially by this: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=25333.

Thank you.
