"Error booting operating system"

Post by No.2 » Thu Nov 30, 2006 19:29

Hi. I just installed 3.2. On to a 80 GB Seagate SATA hdd.

-There are two other PATA drives in the PC.
-The partitions are 200MB ext3 /boot, 2000MB Swap, 10GB ext3 /, 60GB NTFS. All primary partions.
-The boot flag is on the /boot partition.
-The bios is set to boot the SATA drive first.
-Get "Error booting operating system" every time I reboot.
-Can boot RR4 with a "boot 0x80" comand from Ultimate boot cd but apps start VERY slowly.

Any thoughts?

unhook the other two pata drives and then boot up SL and then do fix bootloader and force the sata mbr to be overwritten, that should fix it (as long as SL is on the sata drive)

btw, 2000th post, w00t! >_<

Congrats on the 2k posts :) I wonder how many total key strokes that has been?

I fixed the problem by changing the SATA channel. I had allready rewriten the mbr table. Now it boots faster and apps start at a normal speed as well. Mobo problem by the looks. :/
