spread it to everyone

Postby automan » Wed Nov 22, 2006 6:23

those that frequent the sabayon irc channel know me quite well, but for those that do not, i am automan. i did something today that i think everyone should do... i burned 4 dvds of the new sabayon 3.2 and gave it to 4 friends that are either linux users or have been contemplating trying linux for a while. the only thing i asked of them was that if they liked it, make copies and give it to other people. i dont know if this will spread or die with those 4 people, but it is worth a shot in my opinion.

also, when 3.2 becomes available to everyone, torrent and seed like crazy. seeding will help spread the love quicker to people that tend to lose interest in this fast paced tech world. do what you can and let us see how long it takes to crack the top ten on distrowatch and hold it. i can certainly forsee a time when sabayon rates above gentoo on the list.

Yes. seeding is important and people just need to have patience with bittorrent. Too many people get in the I want it yesterday mode. It all comes in good time.

Spread the word any way possible.

Already doing so! I might have a future recruit already. Not sure if it's going to happen but I'm talking about it!

I have illimited uploads and downloads with my ISP so the seeding part won't be a problem. ;)

If you have ever seen the commercial where the guy says I gave it to two people and they gave it to two poeple and they gave it to two people, and so on, and so on (also spoofed on waynes world).

Thats how I know Linux will gain market share. By the shear volume of people who contribute to spread the message about linux.

So when I burn and give away a distro to people my only request is that they in turn do the same to at least two people and ask them to ask the same in return when they pass it on.

I help out a couple of community colleges and I have burned dvd and cd’s for everyone in the class and convinced the instructors to include more Linux class time in their studies. Especially after I demonstrated the snapshots in vmware-server.
