Sound problem on NVIDIA nforce 430MCP - ASUS M2N [SOLVED]

Hello everybody!
I recently decided to install Sabayon again - the reason is that I've bought myself a new computer and want good gentoo based distro. To no surprise install went very smooth, everything seems to be working smoothly, well, nearly everything, the onboard sound card is not recognized. I searched some forums, groups and FAQS and people say that my card should work with snd_hda_intel module but it doesn't. I'm gonna buy a PCI Creative card in a couple of months but that's the future. If that helps my card is based on NVIDIA MCP61.

I know the audigy or creative pci one will def work, and I have an onboard card that doesn't work very well either

try running as root # alsaconf
and configure for your sound card and see where that gets you, if not, we'll start looking other places

and the normal stuff

I have the MCP55 and used the intel8x0. I got sound no problem with that, but for gaming it sounded like crap. I picked up a Audigy SE for like 25.00 and now I have sound that is way better.

I know I compiled the kernel with the intel8x0 and it worked. Not sure if that will work for yours tho, did you compile the intel driver into the kernel? Take a look under the kernel for sound and make sure things are checked for intel.

intel8x0 is for MCP55 and higher so it should work

And the solution is very simple, just compile 2.6.19 kernel. Genkernel encountered some problems with drivers but I disabled what I did not need and voila, I've got Sabayon with sounds.
