Odd behaviuor with 'sabayon aiglx'

Having to reinstall due to a problem I thought I would try 'sabayon aiglx' instead of 'xgl'.
Live cd ran great! Alas when installed and booted up something was very wrong, window/screen was totally unresponsive except for a wierd effect of zooming when clicking the right mouse button (looked like someone was kicking the screen from behind). Only the 3 fingers saved the day, reverted back to xgl and a repeat of the earlier problem, sigh!

PS I hate coming on this forum to just look for help or to complain,so far people have been very helpfull (espec. cvill64 :D ). Its greatly appreciated.

you could try logging in to the fluxbox desktop and in a console type= beryl-manager

then disable zoom and screenshot plugins

these plugins are loaded and make it impossible to open programs in kde
at least to someone like me :)

but anyway, works now!

I dont mind minimalism, but only in my home! I love toys/gadgets etc.

I'm using a fairly new (middle of the road) set up, GigabyteK8NF mobo with AMD 64 (x1) and a geforce 7600GS graphics card, only 512MB of memory-soon to be rectified.

I had a sneaky suspicion the AIGLX thing wasnt quite up to scratch yet, think I'll leave it alone for now.

Cheers for now.

Hi all,

I really like this distro and did install it since a while without major problem except maybe a knowned bug : firefox throw me out sometimes when i click on a link (it closes itself) :( I did not read something about this on the forum.)

But I wanted first to advise that I have the same problem as Helterskelter by enabling Aiglx, I get a big freeze after disk install and like him, no problem with the live-cd. (I also checked the md5sum, all was fine)

Here is my config : Motherboard Asus A8N-E, Videocard Nvidia Geforce 6600 256 Mo, Processor AMD64 3000+ and 1Ghz of Ram

Hi cvill64, did you have a look at my link above ? Is there a way to manage beryl to work well on my pc config ? I thought it should not be a problem with a nvidia geforce 6600.

I succeeded in installing beryl by following this link for a Debian Sid based distro :

http://kanotix.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t-21468.html

It works fine, so something happened wrong during the install on the harddisk with Sabayon. I hate to disturb people for a such small thing but I would rather continue to use Sabayon !

Thanks one more time for your great job until here and thank you in advance for any help or suggestions. It has become finally a pleasure to use gentoo without headhache !

Cheers
