Got it.

Let's try sans-serif fonts + removing the boxes next.

Thanks for your feedback! Don't worry. As long as we stay on-topic, I have no hard feelings :-)

What I did last night (past midnight here):
  • Switched everything to sans-serif fonts (headlines, paragraphs)
  • Simplified colour palette even more
  • Removed boxes and increase whitespace
  • Ensure, that images don't break out of their containers (see desktop flavours. Images scale down now)
  • Removed goal badge regarding Liberapay on request of joost
Shocking side effect: No update of the live site possible because it uses the same theme
We should better get the new design out soon

Could be that for some reason the cronjob does not trigger tonight (I couldn't see it in the GitHub.io page we use as pre-preview).
Even locally I don't see updates. Hm, strange.

Imagine it looks like

I can see it on next.sabayon.org. While it could probably still use some smaller tweaks here and there, I think it looks way better without the boxes.

The link to 'Latest Release' still doesn't actually link to the latest press release. That's about the only concrete feedback I can give now.

Lastly, I want to commend you on doing a fantastic job of listening and reacting to feedback. It really helps give a great sense of community.

It is much better. I suggest to use, at most, different coloured areas instead of the boxes, but avoid the borders. Well, greys or slightly coloured greys.
I also prefer ghost buttons. Anyway, I am not a fan of links drawn with underline. For me, that is from the days when people were not that familiar with the web in general.

Still on my todo list.

I want to have a look at the colour contrast for accessibility and readability reasons … so I'll not look into it for the first release, okay?
I've opened a GitHub issue on it.

Those are hard to spot and distinguish from links. However, we have a link here for the „latest press release” so it is fine.

It's a basic accessibility and usability recommendation. That is, if you remove the underline, you are asked to provide an alternative (and not just show nothing). After all, how would you learn that it is a link? I went so far and not show them in blue…

Well, links on modern sites usually have a different font style (some bolder than usual, oe even a different, but fitting, font face) and hovering changes the colour or adds an underline or both. This would be nicer, IMHO.
Slightly different areas in colour might simply define them, this not being necessarily related to accessibility. Look at the current forum design.

What I did tonight:
I even tested the next.sabayon.org with TOR browser to make sure it is not a caching issue on my side :-/
Will talk to mudler to look, whether there is some caching involved which I can't clear.

Open ToDos:
  • On donate page, the text does not wrap for mobile viewport (look at crypto section) (any ideas?)
  • Add privacy notice section and link to it from every site (forums, website, wiki, bugzilla, …)

Since I don't have any cryptocurrencies … how do you deal with it normally? Do you type it? Scan a QR code? I have no idea …
Feels like we are almost there!

Look at the current forum design.
I can see blue, underlined links :-)

I was referring to the areas by that.
