In the past lxnay tried to push new kernel releases ASAP and was proud of that. During this summer it seems everyone is on vacation or just forgot about the kernel.

4.12 has been released on 2 July 2017, latest version is 4.12.10 released yesterday.
Gentoo sources are on 4.12.10, but there is no trace of 4.12 in the sabayon-distro overlay at all.

The latest stable kernel 4.9 has reached the version 4.9.46, Entropy has 4.9.44 available, at least 45 and 46 are in the overlay and hopefully the most actual will be pushed soon.

What amazes me, that 4.11 is still around in Entropy despite it's EOL since July.

Let's hope the devs are finally back from summer holidays now ;)

"on vacation"
Indeed. And we are working on it.

Hello Joost,

didn't want to insult anybody. I know you have regular jobs, families and life beyond Sabayon.

Thank you for your work!

In the overlay there is 4.13 already, I'll wait for that probably.

Code: Select all

$ eix -c linux-sabayon
[U] sys-kernel/linux-sabayon [1] (4.9.44(4.9)@08/17/2017 -> (~)3.10.107(3.10)^m (~)3.16.47(3.16)^m (~)3.18.70(3.18)^m (~)4.1.43(4.1)^m (~)4.4.87(4.4)^m (~)4.9.48(4.9)^m (~)4.11.12(4.11)^m (~)4.12.11(4.12)^m (~)4.13(4.13)^m): Official Sabayon Linux Standard kernel image
[1] "sabayon-distro" /var/lib/layman/sabayon-distro
Thank you, Joost!

My system is really unstable after upgrading to 4.12.
Simply shut down sometimes when comes back from monitor sleep and vlc + hauppauge crashes on specific channels, just when it gets full signal, just to name the most annoying ones. Actually, I did not have time to gather all these. And much slower at boot time...
