Kernel Upgrade to v. 4.9 [Solved]

Postby linuxfluesterer » Sun Jan 22, 2017 20:47

Hallo guys, maintainers of Sabayon.
As I see Sabayon as a Rolling Release, I often upgraded my Kernel with:
Code: Select all
equo up
kernel-switcher list

and then, when a new Kernel mainline was shipped by Sabayon, I did:
Code: Select all
kernel-switcher switch linux-sabayon-4.x

On the official website:
http://www.kernel.org
you can see, that Kernel 4.9 is already marked as 'stable' in version 4.9.5. In earlier times I remember, Sabayon offered rather early a new published version of Kernels.
So, where is Kernel 4.9, please, when will it appear? I'm still on Kernel 4.8.15.
I'm using an old KDE 4.14.10 and also a Sabayon with Plasma 5.8.5 with all latest updates.
Thank you in advance.

I really hope, that by the Brexit (poor Britain), TTIP will be finally prevented. But don't get tired to talk to your local politician to open eyes for danger to democracy because of TTIP

Looks like it's in the limbo repo.

╠ @@ Package: sys-kernel/linux-sabayon-4.9.4 branch: 5, [sabayon-limbo]
╠ Available: version: 4.9.4 ~ tag: NoTag ~ revision: 0
╠ Slot:

You also have to keep in mind that once the kernel is out, it doesn't mean the drivers are ready for it to mainline immediately. So there is often a bit of a delay.

Update: A view days ago, the latest stable Kernel 4.9.5 was shipped by Sabayon.org repo.
I already installed it with:
Code: Select all
kernel-switcher switch linux-sabayon-4.9.5

I will mark the thread as [Solved].
