Xerox b215?

Post by msdobrescu » Sat Apr 25, 2020 10:10

Hello,

I've got a Xerox B215. Should I install their provided drivers?
Is there anything should I know about this printer on Linux?
Xerox provides some install driver.
But Gentoo it's not among the supported OSes.

I basically need the scanning and the printing functions.

Hi, I still can't make it print.

I try to access it over the network.

I have tried default drivers, but didn't work.
So, I have downloaded Xerox Linux drivers, that allowed me to scan.
But printing is still an issue. It says it processes, in the printing applet, but can't go further.
It stays like that forever.

How should I make it print? What's the right procedure?
How to detect the source of the problem?

Solved.

So it seems my network setup has a problem.
I see this behaviour, same on my two computers:

1. Samba - is able to scan and to find the shared devices over the network, and displays their name correctly, like "MyComputer", but can't browse them because, at share access time, it tries to use "MyComputer.local" instead of "MyComputer".

2. Network printers detection using various protocols, tries to add that ".local" to their URI's. So it fails too.

What might be the reason?
Please help.
