Ambient light sensor support: iio_sensor_proxy [Solved]

Post by wimvandorst » Tue Sep 12, 2017 22:24

On my Dell XPS 13 (model 9333), I want the ambient light sensor to be supported by Gnome. Standard feature if supported (and the pertaining amblient light sensort hardware is in the laptop of course). But apparently for the support I need the iio_sensor_proxy package installed. It seems not available in the Sabayon repositories. Anyone recommendations how/if I can install the package otherwise? Or how to get it in Sabayon?

Apparently a Portage ebuild for Gentoo' exists: https://bugs.gentoo.org/565904

So I suggest you file a request (click on link 'Bugs' at the top right of this page) for the Sabayon Linux developers to build a binary package for Sabayon Linux.

Thanks. I had seen the Gentoo solution, but I couldn't get it to work. I now filed a new bug (package request) as you suggested. Regards, Wim
