Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7265 problem [Solved]

Post by abadonna » Wed Feb 25, 2015 11:03

Today's update has ruined my WiFi.

dmesg shows:

Code: Select all

[ 5.056471] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: request for firmware file 'iwlwifi-7265D-10.ucode' failed.
I checked ls -la /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-7265*, but all I have found was:

Code: Select all

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 690452 Feb 22 02:20 /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-7265-8.ucode
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 697012 Feb 22 02:20 /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-7265-9.ucode
Well, I have copied iwlwifi-7265-9.ucode to needed iwlwifi-7265D-10.ucode and it gave my WiFi back, however now dmesg complains:

Code: Select all

[ 5.058076] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: Firmware has old API version, expected v10 through v12, got v9.
[ 5.058081] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: New firmware can be obtained from http://www.intellinuxwireless.org/.
Solution:
Download latest firmware from http://www.intellinuxwireless.org/ and unzip and copy attached files to /lib/firmware/:

Code: Select all

-rw-r----- 1 root root 740448 Feb 25 21:05 /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-7265D-10.ucode
-rw-r----- 1 root root 740448 Feb 25 21:05 /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-7265-10.ucode
