Mousepad touch not recognized - Acer Aspire 5730z [Solved]

Postby maccabbeo » Sun May 11, 2014 17:09

Hi to all,
I am new to Sabayon and I am experiencing the above problem after just installing Sabayon 14.04.
I'm trying to click and double click on the touchpad board but nothing happens. I can do click when using mouse buttons, but nothing happens when clicking on the board. I expect the single click on the board to select objects and the double click to open/run them, just like the left mouse button.

Please note the following:
1) I can scroll with the touchpad
2) external mouse works perfectly

How can I solve the problem?
Thanks,
regards.

Read this https://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?titl ... _Touchpads
Edit as root the file: /etc/X11/xorg.conf and insert this section:
Code: Select all
Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad"
        Driver "synaptics"
Option "AlwaysCore" "true" # send events to CorePointer
        #Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
        Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
        Option "Protocol" "auto-dev"
Option "SHMConfig" "false" # configurable at runtime? security risk
        Option "LeftEdge" "1700" # x coord left
        Option "RightEdge" "5300" # x coord right
        Option "TopEdge" "1700" # y coord top
        Option "BottomEdge" "4200" # y coord bottom
Option "FingerLow" "25" # pressure below this level triggers release
Option "FingerHigh" "30" # pressure above this level triggers touch
Option "MaxTapTime" "180" # max time in ms for detecting tap
Option "VertEdgeScroll" "true" # enable vertical scroll zone
Option "HorizEdgeScroll" "true" # enable horizontal scroll zone
Option "CornerCoasting" "true" # enable continuous scroll with finger in corner
Option "CoastingSpeed" "0.30" # corner coasting speed
Option "VertScrollDelta" "100" # edge-to-edge scroll distance of the vertical scroll
Option "HorizScrollDelta" "100" # edge-to-edge scroll distance of the horizontal scroll
Option "MinSpeed" "0.75" # speed factor for low pointer movement
Option "MaxSpeed" "4.50" # maximum speed factor for fast pointer movement
Option "AccelFactor" "0.0020" # acceleration factor for normal pointer movements
Option "VertTwoFingerScroll" "true" # vertical scroll anywhere with two fingers
Option "HorizTwoFingerScroll" "true" # horizontal scroll anywhere with two fingers
Option "EmulateTwoFingerMinZ" "120" # this may vary between different machines
        Option "TapButton1" "1"
        Option "TapButton2" "2"
        Option "TapButton3" "3"
EndSection

Save and reboot.

Ciao belcocco,

thanks so much for your reply. Unfortunately that solution did not work for me. Actually I followed the instructions in the link you suggested to me.
However I should remark that my xorg.conf file was empty! I tried to paste the lines reported in that link but the system did not boot in graphic mode outputting several errors. I had to clean the xorg.xonf file back to empty and then the system booted almost normally. I say "almost" since the boot was quite slow, but it booted finally.

So, what should I do?
Thanks,
regards.

What DE use?
if you use gnome, try this:
Code: Select all
$dconf-editor
and go to:
org -> gnome -> settings daemon -> peripherals -> touchpad
set tap-to-click "true"
Ciao
