Beware ... GeForce Legacy Users [Solved]

Postby vaettchen » Mon Apr 01, 2013 6:02

This shoots up when using equo (weekly 17 March). Unfortunately I can't read the notice - on the command oline, it says
Code: Select all
 # equo notice read
>>  @@ Notice board not available

and in rigo, no reaction at all.

I am a GeForce lagcy user (x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-304.64#3.6.0-sabayon), and I have experienced problems before (thanks to this forum, all got solved). I'm dead scared now - should I update or not?

Thanks for help!

Edited by Moderator: It's "Beware ... GeForce Legacy Users [Solved]" not "[Solved:] Beware ... GeForce Legacy Users".

For Legacy users
Code: Select all
As it always happens, proprietary video drivers fall short.
This time it's because we are, after one year, upgrading
X.Org to version 1.13. This means that some legacy drivers
have been removed:
- AMD Catalyst 12.6_beta_pre897
- NVIDIA legacy 96.xx
They don't work with the new X.Org, so either you are on your
own or have to switch to open source drivers.
Sorry, it's not our fault.

:mrgreen:

sabayonino, thanks a lot, that answers my real question!

As to reading the notice board, I had looked at http://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title=En:Equo where the <repo> thing is not mentioned, and I was (still am) confused by the fact that rigo didn't find anything.

But, thanks to your reply, I found the right points to look at:
Code: Select all
# equo notice -h        \\ or
# man equo-notice

Thanks once more,
Rainer

Wiki is not updated.

Entropy still goes on ... still updated.

Feel free to update the wiki :roll:

Equo full help
Code: Select all
$ equo --help

There's "--help" menu for all equo options
Code: Select all
$ equo unmask --help

Code: Select all
$ equo notice --help

and so on...

Cheers :bom:
