Lenova Ideapad: how to Nvidia Card to work ?

Postby kutte128 » Fri Feb 01, 2013 15:37

Hi,

i have some trouble getting the Nvidia Card to work.
I installed bumblebee, latest nvidi-drivers and removed nouveau but all i get is this error:

optirun glxgears
[ 170.594515] [ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU - error: [XORG] (EE) Failed to load module "mouse" (module does not exist, 0)

[ 170.594544] [ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.

The start of bumblebee give this error:
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'bbswitch': No such device

I searched for this, but didn't find any clues.
Feb 1 15:22:41 laptop001 kernel: [ 417.281215] bbswitch: version 0.5
Feb 1 15:22:41 laptop001 kernel: [ 417.281225] bbswitch: Found integrated VGA device 0000:00:02.0: \_SB_.PCI0.GFX0
Feb 1 15:22:41 laptop001 kernel: [ 417.281232] bbswitch: cannot find ACPI handle for VGA device 0000:01:00.0
Feb 1 15:22:41 laptop001 kernel: [ 417.281236] bbswitch: No discrete VGA device found
Feb 1 15:22:41 laptop001 bumblebeed[12753]: Module bbswitch could not be loaded (timeout?)

This is my lspci:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation Device 1140 (rev a1)

Kernel is 3.7

Hi,

it's a NVIDIA 610M.
The Intel GPU is used for normal operations, the Nvidia should be usable for 3D and such. It works nice with Win 7 and it should be possible with Linux too. I think its called Nvidia Optimus

Do you have installed 'gpu detector' package from Rigo?
This helped me with my NVidia GT320M.
Now I have an NVidia GT620M (Bumblebee)
in xorg.conf there is used the 'nvidia' driver in section 'Device'.
For this NVidia, I need the matching driver: 'Nvidia Drivers 313.18#3.7.0-sabayon~2' for my kernel.
You can check, if your kernel and driver match.
But anyway, don't forget 'gpu detector', pls.

hi,

gpu-detector is installed, the nvidia-drivers are matching the kernel.
Running gpu-configurator gives me this message:
Code: Select all
Switching to xorg-x11 OpenGL interface... done
NVIDIA Optimus 3D Acceleration detected, enabling bumblebee
latest and greatest NVIDIA driver selected or unsupported
check_if_proprietary_driver_system_is_healthy: nvidia healthy
NVIDIA proprietary driver [latest] is loaded
LiveCD mode off, not starting bumblebee service
Card Number: 0
[0] company_id: 8086 | card_id: 0156
Intel >= 810!
Bumblebee enabled, not deactivating proprietary drivers
check_if_driver_is_available for intel: available

I think that looks not so bad, but i still can't get the nvidia to run
