I see from your /var/log/messages file that you're using the 3.7.0 kernel. Some Gentoo users are having ALSA trouble with the 3.7.0 kernel (and/or udev), so perhaps you're suffering from the same thing: Problem with alsasound after Kernel 3.7.0 upgrade. Have you tried reverting to a 3.6.* kernel to see if it has an effect?

Sorry, failed to mention, I tried with 3.5, 3.6 and 3.7 all with the same result.

Also tried removing (or rather, renaming) asound.state (both /etc/asound.state and /var/lib/asound.state) as per that link, but the problem persists.

Looks like it might be due to udev (see the post today by ulenrich). In the case of SL, you might find it solves itself when the next rebuild of all the Entropy packages for the repository happens, but you might want to file a bug report for your problem just in case, also referencing that post in the Gentoo Forums with a query as to whether it might be the cause.

I have the same problem since upgrading from Sabayon 9 to Sabayon10. I'm using XFCE and Mate. After restart the speakers are zero and I have to change volume bei hand. I have done a reinstall, nothing changes. Meanwhile there was lot's of updates in alsa and pulseaudio. But nothing happened.
It's really annoying, everytime, after restart to set by hand the speaker from 0 to loud.
Help would be really appreciated

Thks in Advance

Kind regards

Weirdness. After today's update, the problem seems to've solved itself
