Thank you. I was already reading all the posts and docs.

I have issued emerge --sync

Code: Select all
...
* IMPORTANT: 4 config files in '/etc' need updating.
 * See the CONFIGURATION FILES section of the emerge
 * man page to learn how to update config files.

 * An update to portage is available. It is _highly_ recommended
 * that you update portage now, before any other packages are updated.

 * To update portage, run 'emerge portage' now.

 * IMPORTANT: 6 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
 * Use eselect news to read news items.

Should I update config files and update portage first?

As you're using Entropy, ignore the Portage message to update the portage package. The rule for Entropy is: don't upgrade the portage package; stick to the version that Entropy provides.

Regarding the configuration files, when was the last time you used the equo conf update command? You should use that command after every install/upgrade in case there are any new/modified configuration files. In this specific case, use the Portage command etc-update and enter "-3" (without the quotes), then reply "y" (without the quotes) to each if you have not made any manual edits to any of the configuration files mentioned.

Your feedback is so valuable! Thank you.

Now I have this:

Code: Select all
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!

The following keyword changes are necessary to proceed:
#required by tvheadend (argument)
=media-tv/tvheadend-9999 **

NOTE: The --autounmask-keep-masks option will prevent emerge
from creating package.unmask or ** keyword changes.

Use --autounmask-write to write changes to config files (honoring CONFIG_PROTECT).

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-headers".
(dependency required by "media-tv/tvheadend-9999" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "tvheadend" [argument])

I guess I could try continuing the build, as long as I already have the headers installed by entropy?

Well, Google would tell you the answer, but it's:

Code: Select all
echo "=media-tv/tvheadend-9999 **" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords

and then rerun the merge command.

I'll add the above command to my earlier post.

Thank you, my concern is:

Code: Select all
emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-headers".
(dependency required by "media-tv/tvheadend-9999" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "tvheadend" [argument])

What should I do about this?
I already have media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-headers-5.3

Does it need to change the reference from "media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-headers" to "media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-headers-5.3" somewhere in the ebuild?

Looking at the error message, it refers to "media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-headers", i.e. the package category is "media-tv" and the package name is "linuxtv-dvb-headers". If you look at the ebuild in the Portage main tree (and therefore as a built package in Entropy), it's not in the same category:

Code: Select all
emerge -s linuxtv-dvb-headers

Portage: http://packages.gentoo.org/package/virt ... vb-headers

Entropy: https://packages.sabayon.org/quicksearc ... vb-headers

So try editing the ebuild and change "media-tv" to "virtual". You'll need to recreate the manifest before you re-run the merge (install) command.

Wow, I've been so convinced that media-tv was the right category, as I have completely ignored that.
I've re-generated the manifest and it builds now.

So, it seems it works, it detects the card correctly, but I have no idea how to scan for the channels.
My country is not in the list.

See if the Tvheadend Web site helps you. Particularly the documentation page: https://www.lonelycoder.com/tvheadend/documentation

Also check in the XBMC forums as they may be able to help you.

Yes, I've already asked on how to import the channel list generated by w_scan.
