CPU scaling doesn't work! [Solved]

Postby CavenDish » Fri Jul 29, 2011 10:34

Hi, I have a Acer Aspire 5536G laptop with Sabayon and Ubuntu. This notebook with linux has some overheat problems. The temperatures are 65-70°C in idle and they go over 80-85°only watching a YouTube video!
So in my two linux distro I've installed CPU scaling softwares, but they work only for Ubuntu! There the temperatures now are right, but not for Sabayon, the scaling doesn't work!

Sorry for my english

Thanks

Welcome to the Sabayon Linux Forums and Community.
Your signature has some charisma

first of all, can you tell us which CPU are you using?
Also, you could try this:
(as root)
Code: Select all
rc-update add cpufrequtils default

and reboot.
this will enable cpufreq scaling at the default runlevel.

It seems working, now watching a Youtube video the temperatures are only 60-65° !!!
Thanks  but I'm not sure that the problem is solved, I can say you that later :D
