power issues HP dv9000 [Solved]

Postby clockwork » Mon Jun 16, 2008 17:43

ok first post on the forums and i love sabayon, but having some problems

i have HP pavillion dv9428nr laptop. for some reason anytime my computer goes idle and falls asleep, it wont repond when i wake it up. it comes back from the idle state but then all i see is a gray screen. also whenever i use the power button to turn off my system, it takes about 30 seconds to power off and while waiting it just shows a bunch of lines running down a black screen.
could this be a problem of 2 conflicting power mangers?

can you use ssh to verify a freeze, or perhaps try ctrl-alt-f1 to hit a tty? Also, the vertical lines are a video card problem, they've happened on my laptop every now and again - they do usually indicate something more substantial. As a second note, is this live or post-install?

Actually, you've got me temporarily stumped! Can you wait ~2 weeks? We're in the final testing stages now of 3.5 final, I'll try to replicate your problem on it to see if it's either fixed through updates or able to be fixed before we go to release.

Probably a service that's starting up then - check what's loading in both kde and gnome that isn't in xfce and fluxbox.

it could easily be compiz, unfortunately - see if there's any other possibilities. You can always disable compiz when you plan to leave your computer for a bit.

ok well that was a complete fiasco...
i do believe it is compiz's fault because for some reason my box wouldnt let comppiz control my window manager.
so after spending today and yesterday browsing the internets and fiddling with my system... its back!!!

but now i just have to wait and see if my screensaver/idle problem is solved
