RAM Problem with Sabayon 3.4 f non 64

Postby htcs » Wed Mar 12, 2008 21:28

I cant get the live cd to boot with 4 gb of ram in the system. I have 2 2gb sticks of corsair xms2 ddr2 ram. I take out one stick and the systems boots and i can install sabayon. I booted to the harddrive and everything is fine. I installed the extra 2 gb stick and right after the boot loader, i just get a black screen and no harddrive activity. But if i take out one 2 gb peice it works. What can I do to make this happen. I do have an Amd 64 5200 should i try the 64 bit version.
Thanks for you help.

I'm not sure why you have this problem. I've been running Sabayon on 4 GB of ram since I started using it nearly 2 years ago. I do use 64 bit though. If you have the power of 64 why not use it?

Have you tested the memory?

You should. The liveCD/DVD has memtester in the bootmenu, run that. This should result ZERO errors. (Yeah it takes a while).
