Applying permanent permission for /Dev/Video0 (Tvtime)

Postby ubumby » Sun Feb 03, 2008 3:17

I thought this would be easy to find out by searching, or in the how-tos......maybe i'm just blind. I searched and searched and I need to figure out how to change the permission of /dev/video0 for tvtime so it applies even after I turn my system off.

Right now I have to type in: sudo chmod 0660 /dev/video0 or sudo chmod 0660 /dev//v4l/video0 everytime I log on, but this only lasts untill I restart.
I've already tried sudo chown -R root:video /dev/video0, but to no avail.

It seems tvtime installed in the root group and not video?

ls -l /dev/video0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 2008-02-02 20:03 /dev/video0 -> v4l/video0 (This is before I apply sudo chmod 0660 /dev/video0)

ls -l /dev/v4l/video0
crw------- 1 root root 81, 0 2008-02-02 20:03 /dev/v4l/video0

-l /dev/video0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 2008-02-02 19:22 /dev/video0 -> v4l/video0 (This is after I applied sudo chmod 0660 /dev/video0)

ls -l /dev/v4l/video0
crw-rw---- 1 root root 81, 0 2008-02-02 19:22 /dev/v4l/video0
