[wifi] Dell latitude D630

Postby Nicod » Mon Jan 07, 2008 21:55

Hi,

I installed Sabayon PE 1.1 today on my business laptop, a Dell latitude D630 and the wirelass card is not recognize at all.

Can anybody help?

The rest seems to be ok as i post this thread under Sabayon. Also the touchpad is not 100% OK... Not realy precise.

Thanks,

Nico

OK -- which wireless card do you have?

I think D630 may have either Broadcom or ipw3945

If you don't know,
lspci
should help -- or look at your windows drivers

You need ipw3945 for your wireless.

First look if it is not already there:
Code: Select all
lsmod | grep ipw

If you dont get any result try modprobing it(as root):
Code: Select all
modprobe ipw3945

If you get a result try to reload the module (seems a problem in alot of distros)
After doing this your wireless will probably work:
Code: Select all
modprobe -r ipw3945
modprobe ipw3945

If you really dont have it installed:
emerge -av ipw3945

and try to reload when it doesnt seem to work.
