HP DV series laptop remote and touch button issues

Postby lok5 » Fri Dec 21, 2007 22:50

I have a dv9009nr and it comes with a built in remote I can take out and control pretty much anything with in Windows but in Linux it doesn't work and all my touch buttons on my laptop for volume and media actions don't work either. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas to fix this issue. I love using the remote for when I'm watching DVDs and listening to music and I would love to use it in Linux so I can use it exclusively. So far I have been using Sabayon linux for 3 weeks now and I'm loving it so far. Windows blows chunks!

Cant wait till it has full support from everyone.

Might have to check out the gentoo forums / wiki for this info , not sure if enough persons have looked into this yet.

umm wiki much
http://wiki.sabayonlinux.org/index.php? ... 000_Series

Also, see this

http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Use_Multimedia_Keys

For the remote, you will need to activate lirc

Code: Select all
sudo modprobe lirc

and

Code: Select all
sudo nano -w /etc/modules.autoload/kernel-2.6

add "lirc" (without the quotes) to the list

and you may need to do a

Code: Select all
sudo rc-update add lirc default

although I am not sure about the last one. Google it, or check the gentoo wiki.

Then go to kcontrol and set up the remote from the gui lirc configurator.
