No touchpad after install (acpi problem?)

Post by denijane » Fri Apr 06, 2018 21:25

Hi guys,
I made a new install on Asus FX503V. After some drama, it worked with the option acpi=off (Sabayon 17.0)
But I have no touchpad.
I don't see it in /var/log/Xorg.0.log even though I added it manually in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/
I know it works, because in bios, I have touchpad. So it's something else.
I tried adding:
i8042.noloop i8042.nomux i8042.nopnp i8042.reset
to GRUB, in pretty much all permutations, it doesn't help.
I tried
synclient TouchpadOff=0
it says:
"Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?"

I think xinput doesn't detect it:

Code: Select all

 xinput
⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ ITE Tech. Inc. ITE Device(8910) id=7 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ PIXART USB OPTICAL MOUSE id=10 [slave pointer (2)]
⎣ Virtual core keyboard id=3 [master keyboard (2)]
↳ Virtual core XTEST keyboard id=5 [slave keyboard (3)]
    ↳ USB2.0 HD UVC WebCam id=6 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ AT Translated Set 2 keyboard id=8 [slave keyboard (3)]
↳ ITE Tech. Inc. ITE Device(8910) id=9 [slave keyboard (3)]
In dmesg I see as errors:

Code: Select all

 ~ $ dmesg|grep error
[ 7.197600] intel-lpss: probe of 0000:00:15.0 failed with error -22

also I get this suggestion to use pci=biosirq

I added pci=biosirq to grub but that didn't help and didn't remove the suggestion from dmesg.

Any ideas what's going on and how to solve the problem. I use my laptop for traveling, using an usb mouse is not a good option for me. So please, help...

P.S. Sound works, nvidia appears in lspci -v, webcam works, for the mics I still don't know.

System Settings says "No touchpad found". I'm with kde.
I'm also not sure the nvidia is running. Also nothing related to acpi doesn't work (obviously, since it's disabled in grub), but that means I can't turn off that horrible keyboard back-light. I'm so miserable...
