kernel and nvidia driver mismatch

Post by bookewyrmm » Fri Feb 09, 2018 18:14

I know this has been marked as [SOLVED],
viewtopic.php?f=86&t=33939&hilit=kernel+nvidia+mismatch

but I keep running into it and it has begun to bother me.

I have not played around with bash or any other script languages much, BUT, I was thinking it should be easy enough that I can tackle it.

I want to write a script that I can run when this error pops up (approximatly every 3-4 months) that will search eselect and equo , match the version and install them, (Easy, Right?)

As a VERY NOVICE programmer and script writer, my question is this... Would a bash script be best, or would Python or some other language be easier/better?

Just looking for a point in the best direction.

Thanks

Try using the open source drivers.

kinda defeats the purpose(s) of the exercise... 1) expand my skill set in bash scripting 2)continue using nvidia drivers because performance. (and the issue first arose from a stock install, I'm not sure if Nvidia drivers are installed by default)

Thanks @Sabyonino,

I suspected as much, but I am at work and too lazy to check documentation...

Eventually I will post my script, but I got a LOT of work ahead of me.
