Hello,

After working around some tooltips bugs, i finally added such a support to Himerge.

They are already available in the darcs development version, please visit the web site (http://www.haskell.org/himerge) for instructions to fetch the code from the darcs repository. In any case, a new version will be available soon as a tarball.

Thanks and Regards,
araujo

I found himerge very difficult to install.
i emerged it, the compiler haskell, gtk+,gtk2, gtk2hs, darcs, gentooljkit... etc... etc... all dependencies. when i try
to configure the ney himerge turnaball, i received the message that:

fcfrp62 himerge-0.30.22.1 # runhaskell Setup.hs configure
Configuring himerge-0.30.22.1...
Setup.hs: At least the following dependencies are missing:
gtk -any, mozembed -any, glib -any

but i emerge and re-merged gtk2, gtk+, glib etc...including the mozembed libraries....
nothing t install himerge until now.i used was the normal
according to some post here, it requires new files, certain versios works, others no...
some people installed...
the first that i tried, was the reccomended... emerge himerge.... neither the compilerwas found...
i see in the wiki, i tried, and even after all dependencies were emerged... IT NOT INSTALL
some people installed it...

i see some problem. the new version of himerge, uses gtk and perl mozembed, and that is not so compatible with the new 3 firefox.
when mozembed cannot be installed, gtk2hs also cannot be installed, and himerge also.
my system cannot install mozembed, neither gtk2hs and further neither himerge...
Resuming, i have firefox 3.1 and himerge only be installable in systems that used firefox 2...

Why configure the stuff yourself? And not just do
Code: Select all
emerge himerge
?

@albfneto:
Code: Select all
USE="xulrunner -firefox" emerge gtk2hs
-- you need the xulrunner flag enabled and firefox disabled for gtk2hs to link against xulrunner's mozembed and not firefox2. This is also true for must other stuff linking against former FF libs: If a package has xulrunner AND firefox flag and you are using FF3: Disable firefox and enable xulrunner ;)

Yes, do thanks. i discovered this after...
prior i tried the options conseiled in the wiki of himerge, and i dont compiled well dev-perl mozembed libraru, and therefore gtk2hs cannot compiled
further i discovered that mozembed compile well with USE=-firefox and gtk2hs compiled with xulrunner support and without firefox...
interesting that himerge is a GUI, therefore for begginers...
i found GUIS useful even for advanced and intermediate users, fo ex. if you want update gnome, but not all the gnome etc..., for choosing games to install etc...
Curious that Himerge is a GUI,,, and is very difficult to install for beginners....
I like Himerge, but also like porthole, Kuroo and Portato...

I had success in compile and run Himerge...
But now, the problem is other!
i tried to upgrade certain packages of the systenm, normal in portage:

emerge autounmask autoconf automake metisse

you know that they are classical in gentoos.
they are the gentoo automatic unmasker, normal GCC compiler tools and agraphical ambient.
Now,neither of these compile!!!
the errors are the same when i tried to compile himerge..!!!
appears to me that my system changed the default C compiler GCC, by the Haskell compiler!
if i remove GHC and update GCC, i will loose Himerge....or not...

I have problems in my comp now...
Himerge works, but not compile ;;;!! porthole the same....
Portato no more opens....!
Kuroo gives a message that all the packages are not in portage!

even

emerge name of package

cannot compile anything, the errors are econf not runned, died...

in the same manner that GHC (haskell) compiler said prior to the good himerge compilation and installation...
apeears that my system tries to use the Haskell GHC compiler in place of the default GCC compiler...!
is best to remove GHC, or updating GCC and GCC+;;;

i see somthing in Gentoo documentation.
appears that Haskell GHC is now user as as cross compiler, and therefore GCC cannot works normal...
i shoul remove ghc.... and update GCC.

Timpalpaint... [Solved]...

Himerge is now installed and running....
Compilation problems resolved after updating portage and GCC compiler....

SIMPLE PROCEDURE FOR COMPLETE INSTALLATION OF HIMERGE:
In systems that no more uses Firefox 2, but 3....

use the following sequence od commands:

su and password
emerge -av firefox xulrunner
cd /etc/portage
cp package.keywords package.keywords.bak

with an text editor, logged as root, copy-paste these lines to the file /etc/portage/package.keywords

# Dependencias GHC
dev-lang/ghc
dev-haskell/cabal
# Dependencias Haskell
dev-haskell/mtl
dev-haskell/filepath
dev-haskell/regex-base
dev-haskell/regex-posix
dev-haskell/regex-compat
# Dependencias Himerge
app-portage/himerge
dev-haskell/parallel
dev-haskell/gtk2hs

then, save the file. In a terminal, use:

su and password
USE="binary" emerge -av ghc ghc-bin
ghc-updater
emerge -av gtk+ gtk2 perl
USE="xulrunner -firefox" emerge dev-perl/Gtk2-MozEmbed
USE="xulrunner -firefox" emerge gtk2hs
emerge -av gentoolkit portage-utils eix findutils darcs cabal
update-eix
emerge -av himerge

These commands, may install the himerge....

after their installation:

su and password
emerge -av portage
emerge -av gcc autoconf automake

Enjoy Himerge!!!
