Portato killed Kuroo [not Portato bug - solved]

Post by Raqua » Sun Jun 17, 2007 16:19

Hello.

I have been trying out Portato yesterday and today Kuroo does not work. If I try to emerge anything I get this message in log window:

Code: Select all

File "/usr/lib/portage/pym/output.py", line 261, in get_term_size
curses.setupterm()
_curses.error: setupterm: could not find terminfo database
Done.
That is what I call destroying your competition .. :?

Portato and portatge (emerge) works fine, so it should be Kuroo. I remember that I have seen somewhere that there is a way to flush Kuroo's cache or something. I think it might help, but I can not find it again and I am not sure, where to find it. I don't want to delete something that should not be deleted.

p.s. Please, posts saying 'Don't use Kuroo, it sucks' are not helpful.

Sorry - no clue ... what did you emerge between the two kuroo runs? Perhaps ncurses?

Basically I emerged Portato.
Then installed new version of portage using Portato.
I did a sync using Portato which went strange. Although log shows that it was successful.
Then I tried to install (using Kuroo) media-plugins/gst-plugins-farsight dev-util/gperf sys-apps/debianutils. It did not worked showing the error I posted before.
I tried to instal debianutils using Portato to see if it works and it went ok.
Then I tried to install gperf using emerge in command line and it installed ok as well.
I reinstalled Kuroo to see if it will work. It does not.

That is all I did.

The problem is not portage/portato related.

Seems that the kuroo-pseudo-terminal screws up curses in some way. Try to reinstall ncurses as one step.
As you said, that portato screwed up kuroo ... perhaps (I do not believe ... but it is a possibility) an environment-variable (esp TERM) leaked to the system (in which case it should be a Python bug) ... have you rebooted since the error?

Wolfden: Well, not everyone shares your opinion aparently :)

I also tried to reemerge ncurses and it did not help.

I don't profess to understand how, but after I reemerged ncurses, installed Potato, rebooted and did a World update in Potato, Kuroo decided to play nice again !
