PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/portage/local/layman/portato /usr/portage/local/layman/sabayon /usr/portage/local/layman/einit /usr/portage/local/layman/xeffects"

You'll notice that their are on quotation marks on -- source /usr/portage/local/layman/make.conf

maybe just adding the quotation marks will do it

I believe genkernel caused the problem. I wasn't able to use any overlays after the genkernel update. I went to the site for portato and tried the other method to emerge. Having already done the tastymenu ebuild I just added another directory for portato and followed dave-p-b's guide. It worked and then dave-p-b added the lines from his make-conf. So I added those to my make-conf and now its all working i believe, correctly.
Do you think you might know how to fix this.

All i can suggest is try my lines

notice I comment out the line --> # PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage"

and only use
source /usr/portage/local/layman/make.conf

If I uncomment the above line, things don't work right for me.

cheers wolfden.

does this have a place as a default install on upcoming versions of Sabayon?

it would be ace if it were added to future releases.......

Performed layman & emerged Portato, without any hassles :D Got to say, this Portato looks & runs very nicely 8) Am almost tempted to perform a World update in this :lol: Second thoughts, why break SL when everything's running so smoothly :wink:

Thanks for a great app!

I think Portato would be everyone's favorite hands down if you could see what apps can be updated without having to go through every Category like in Kuroo.

If you hit the world update button it will produce in the que your list of packages it will emerge for update and any to unmerge. The thing I noticed when I did it, it doesn't --resume --skipfirst when a package fails. I don't know if there is a way to set that up yet or not.

Do note that when u hit the world update button it takes a bit for it to produce the list.
