Unable to install unetbootin [Solved]

Postby maccabbeo » Sat May 17, 2014 17:15

Hi to all,
I cannot install unetbootin package. Why?
This is the result of trying to install it through emerge http://pastebin.com/cuEtNRvx
Cannot install it through Rigo since it is unreliable at the moment due to continous crashing as described here https://forum.sabayon.org/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=31708

This is the content of the /var/tmp/portage/sys-boot/unetbootin-603/temp/build.log
http://pastebin.com/3dSciexG

What's wrong and what should I do?
Thanks,
regards.

Hallo Maccabbeo.
If Rigo fails, try to install a program in a root console, e.g. for unetbootin:
Code: Select all
equo install unetbootin

Anyway, why do you want to use Unetbootin? If you only want to create a SabyonLive USB stick, then you can easily do that with the dd command. You can check your USB device as root with:
Code: Select all
fdisk -l

So, provided your USB stick is on /dev/sdb, and is at least 4GByte of size, execute this as root:
Code: Select all
dd if=<downloaded_iso_file.iso> of=/dev/sdb bs=4096

Be aware to write the whole device (sdb, not sdb1 or sdb2)...
Hope to help you.

..and regarding portage :
Code: Select all
make: g++: Command not found

check g++
Code: Select all
$ locate x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-g++

you'll have something like :
Code: Select all
/usr/bin/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-g++
/usr/bin/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-g++-4.7.3
/usr/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-bin/4.7.3/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-g++

if not ...

Have you installed gcc ?
Code: Select all
# equo i sys-devel/gcc

anyway , you can use "dd" command as Linuxfluesterer says

Seems you miss sys-devel/gcc and sys-devel/base-gcc.

If Rigo doesn't work properly use equo.

Yeah, that was the problem. How should I mark this thread as "Solved" ?
Also, is there any way to add attachments to the threads of this forum?

Why, and how to add "[Solved]" to your post. Please read.

The attachments feature has been disabled. So it isn't possible to add any attachments anymore.
For command line output, logs and such use the code tags.

Done, thanks. However the code tags are not enough when you want to attach a dmesg output. I will use pastebin in such cases.
