yes, lol I'm using that right now, but if I recompile something, for exemple the nvidia drivers, will they work under the 2.6.22 also, because it will compile for the 2.6.23

You would just need to change the symlink for the sources so that future compiles are built on the correct kernel sources. The command 'eselect kernel set' is specifically for this task.

yep, exept on the mini editions, the sources are not included and emerge =sys-kernel/sabayon-sources-2.6.22 fails because it can't find it...
When I eselect kernel list I get:
Available kernel symlink targets:
[1] linux-2.6.23-sabayon-r1 *

Just to refer back to your post about module-rebuild, I had those same issues. I ended reinstalling mini-edition, so I am back with the stable .6.22 kernel, but I am considering updating again.

So, in short, does it matter if all of you modules don't rebuild correctly? How do you know if that module isn't important? Also, why don't they rebuild correctly? Are they just not compatible with the new kernel/kernel settings when built/ or what?

your biggest ones are your networking and video - the rest you can deal with later. So just get you video and networking drivers reinstalled and you should be able to safely reboot, unless you need a specific driver for something. You may not even need all those ones in the list.

When i upgraded my kernel i had no video after reboot because i didnt emerge the nvidia drivers after the upgrade. I just reinstalled the drivers again and it worked fine. Im sure i had to reinstall mouse drivers again too. All you should have to do is emerge all you drivers again.

but won't they compile for the 2.6.23 kernel? I need them for the 2.6.22 and like I said up, I don't have the 2.6.22 kernel sources...

if you don't have .22 than how they gonna compile for .22? :?

go with .23, build modules to it, .22 isn't available any more anyway
