Packages not compiling

Postby ncmcloud » Tue Oct 30, 2007 17:16

Hi, 99% of my emerge's are not compiling. I've played around with my make.conf file (just the CHOST and CFLAGS) to try and get the best out of it for my system, everything seems to be in order though.

Sample error (they are all the same)
Code: Select all
This program built for i586-pc-linux-gnu

My specs

Info
Code: Select all
Portage 2.1.3.14 (default-linux/x86/2007.0, gcc-4.1.2, glibc-2.5-r1, 2.6.22-sabayon i686)
=================================================================
System uname: 2.6.22-sabayon i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz
Timestamp of tree: Thu, 25 Oct 2007 08:30:01 +0000
distcc 2.18.3 i586-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled]
ccache version 2.4 [disabled]

Make file
Code: Select all
localhost Desktop # cat /etc/make.conf
# These settings were set by the catalyst build script that automatically built this stage
# Please consult /etc/make.conf.example for a more detailed example
CFLAGS="-Os -march=prescott -mno-tls-direct-seg-refs -mmmx -m32 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1 -Wl,--enable-new-dtags -Wl,--sort-common -s"
CHOST="i586-pc-linux-gnu"

I've changed the CHOST to i686 and back (restarted during changes and also ran env-update..just in case).

Any help would be appreciated.

make.conf guide:
viewtopic.php?f=54&t=10578

by the way... I would try deleting -fomit-frame-pointer from CFLAGS

ummm you can't just change CHOST on the fly

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/change-chost.xml

I really hope that isn't all of your make.conf
localhost Desktop # cat /etc/make.conf

I have the same problem, and it is not because of CFLAGS. There is something wrong in the portage and gcc shipped with this version of Sabayon. I cannot even update portage. revdep-rebuild fails on clean installation.

Oh crap. I had actually read the Sabayon make.conf guide, but I must have changed the CHOST flag during a moment of despair. Oh no... The age old question rises up once again...to read a mountain of literature or to format.

Thanks for the replies.
