Emerge Conection refused

Postby dtolo » Fri Oct 19, 2007 20:08

Everything I try to install or update with emerge gets refused. Would it be because I am behind a nat fire wall?

Here are a few examples:

sabayon64 ~ # emerge -1 cairo

Could be that the /etc/resolv.conf has wrong ip's in it.

If you can get on the internet the /etc/resolv.conf should be good.
Might want to try :
Code: Select all
# emerge --sync ; emerge portage ; layman -S

and then again try the "emerge something" usually this fixes this.

Sorry forgot about this one.

# mirrorselect -i
might have to add a few options as well and this shows a list of mirrors you can choose that is closer to you and might have better chance of getting the files.

# mirrorselect --help
should list options you can use there is one for say 4 instead of 1 and somehow this helps .
Could also look at the wiki's above top right on this page or gentoo.org wiki / forums for mirrorselect as likely you would have to set you local to say Britian or Germany and then mirrorselect lists local mirrors = a bit faster process.

don't worry about being obvious.. I am going to do your other sugestions.. I am a windows expert who has been converted to linux but I am in the early phase of my conversion so I am a newbie..

I did the sync part but still no go..

A /usr/portage/local/layman/sabayon/net-ftp/filezilla/files/digest-filezilla-3.0.0
U /usr/portage/local/layman/sabayon/net-ftp/filezilla/Manifest
A /usr/portage/local/layman/sabayon/net-ftp/filezilla/filezilla-3.0.0.ebuild
Updated to revision 1691.
