Limewire Help

Postby beginner99 » Sun Sep 30, 2007 23:17

I believe this is in the right area. If not then I'm sorry.

I just emerged Limewire and I get the following error:

Code: Select all
* Home for VM 'sun-jdk-1.6' does not exist: /usr/lib/jvm//sun-jdk-1.6
* Invalid System VM: sun-jdk-1.6

I don't know Java at all and my knowledge with Linux would probably be declared experienced-beginner to intermediate, so if I sound like an idiot. I'm sorry about that too. :-D

P.S.: I personally prefer Frostwire the Limewire clone but there isn't a finished build for that yet (I believe).

Did what you said. Update & emerge run fine but when I tried to run Frostwire I got this

Code: Select all
/usr/bin/frostwire: line 3: ./runFrostwire.sh: Permission denied

I got this response using my normal user and logging in as root. So, what should I try now?

I think that is an issue with frostwire, i tried to install that as well and did a little reading here:
http://ubuntu-utah.ubuntuforums.org/sho ... p?t=105169

I still dont have mine working but I chmod +x runFrostwire.sh and that took care of the issue you have. But then it complains about not having JRE 1.5...so may have to look into that.

OK I got Frostwire working!!

I installed java JRE 1.5.
Then used java-config to set my user accounts default JRE to this 1.5 version. (on user terminal type: java-config-L ) shows which is default.
Uninstalled Frostwire-bin, then reinstalled(emerge frostwire-bin).
Then I edited /usr/share/frostwire/runFrostwire.sh as su and added this after the introductory comments:

Code: Select all
cd /usr/share/frostwire
java -jar FrostWire.jar

After that as su I made that file executable...i just did this with superuser file manager, properties option.

Did you try to chmod /usr/share/frostwire/runFrostwire.sh as su and in that location?
