Okay, just re emerged compiz-fusion, plugins, plugins-extra, plugins-threed, plugins-unsupported. Now the Group & Tab plugin is working great, very cool.

Problem is, now when I try to change animations, it does not work. There are numbers instead of names for animations at first. Then after trying a random number and restarting now when I try to select animations all icons disappear next to the options on the menu, but there is no menu for the animations anymore. :?

I miss my fire...

If you get to the strange point that I did where selecting animations only gives you numbers to choose from... close effect 3 is fire and close effect 2 is beam. It may freeze up on you, in which case close out ccsm and open ccsm from a terminal, then try again.

I've got my fire, got my Group & Tab (very nice), got my Tile (very handy), even have Shift Switcher working which is really cool, and Snow, but now have a very very strange way of changing animations - wicked weird...

I tried to emerge ccsm as well and the same thing happens, but I never lost it. If you haven't already, try:

# emerge fusion-icon

Once that's done try

# fusion-icon

You should get the compiz icon at the top right. Right click > Settings manager. I've discovered that I've actually got two Fusions now. One for root and one for user. If I run Fusion from root everything works group and all. If I run as user it does not. Also the animations settings just plain got bizarre, I need to advance search for different animation settings and set them by numbers now.

Good luck!

Confirmed.

Code: Select all

sabayonx86 joost # emerge x11-apps/ccsm

I GOT IT... went into the directory i think it was /var/tmp/portage/ccsm***/work then ran the command python setup.py install --prefix=/usr

everything installed, and runs great... thanks for all the help....

i know that directory is not right but if you just find the setup.py file under the main ccsm directory in temp it will work (quick fix)

ccsm is not in the sabayon overlay. if you want it
layman -d sabayon
layman -a xeffects
layman -s xeffects
emerge ccsm
