KDE: Unlock kwallet automatically after login [Solved]

Post by tazinblack » Sat Apr 04, 2020 17:02

Hi together,

I use nextcloud-client and eveytime I login KDE kwallet asks me to enter the login password again to unlock the wallet where nextcloud-client has its passwords stored. I thought this should work automatically with kde-plasma/kwallet-pam.

Help is very welcome!

What settings do you currently have for the KDE Wallet password?:

'System Settings' > 'Personalisation' | 'Account Details' > 'KDE Wallet' > 'Wallet Preferences'

I noticed that after my last round of KDE upgrades (not sure if it was plasma or applications) that the auto unlock stopped working. My system settings doesn't have an option to enable it, only options for when to close it.

Looks standard for me

The wallet has the same password than the user. I have a gentoo box where this works without problems and I don't see the problem here.

Have you tried deleting, then recreating, the wallet? Or changing the wallet password to nothing (that's what I had to do in Gentoo to stop it prompting me)? What are the contents of /etc/pam.d/lighdm? Mine are as follows:

Code: Select all

I'll give changing the password a try.

Setting the password to blank seemed to do the trick. While it's not an ideal solution, I'm the only one using this machine, so I suppose it's fine for me.
