How do I install E17?

Postby fusion809 » Mon Sep 28, 2015 21:03

Hi,

I would like to install Enlightenment 17 on my Sabayon machine. I have tried following the Gentoo Wiki guide to do this but it failed, giving me the error message, after the compile stage:

Didn't work, Entropy tried to install E19, not E17.

It appears that E17 is no longer in the Entropy store. I ran
Code: Select all
equo i =x11-wm/enlightenment-0.17.5
and it didn't work either.

E17 is the Old Version, Obsolete
is now E19...
is the same DE, but the newer version, in my tests is even better.

Yeah I like E19, but I'm writing a blog post on the various DEs available for Sabayon and I'm asking this question mostly because I'm wondering if it is possible to install E17 on Sabayon as E17 is still a very popular version of Enlightenment, due to its stability.

if you want E17, you need to install with the Gentoos Portage...

It is located in the Overlay Rainyday:

Enlightenment versioning is very complicated.

But you want the 0.17 SLOT, believe me. (A slot is not a version)
