SDDM startup/login fails

Post by Absolwent » Wed Sep 23, 2015 15:30

Hi,

after the last upgrade SDDM fails to start up. I have had plasma5 & sddm successfully running before the recent upgrade but now a grey screen and a cursor is all I get. Do you have any ideas what the problem might be?

Cheers!

I'm willing to bet it's because sddm is trying to load a theme that isn't all the way there. I've run across this one, but I thought it was maybe just me.

Try editting /etc/sddm.conf and changing the (Current) theme to circles or maui, then restarting.

Code: Select all

[Theme]
Current=maui
CursorTheme=breeze_cursors
FacesDir=/usr/share/sddm/faces
ThemeDir=/usr/share/sddm/themes

The theme changed now on the left monitor, the right one stays dark but I see a cursor moving. Might this be a dual monitor problem?

My dual monitors both changed and are mirrored with sddm when using the AMD Radeon open source drivers. They did not mirror, but the theme changed on both monitors using proprietary nVidia drivers. There seems to be some different behavior for different drivers.
