I just completed a fresh install and followed the directions at https://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?titl ... in_Sabayon
in order to switch to the proprietary AMD driver, however after rebooting I get dumped into a console login shell instead of gdm. I managed to get back into gnome by running:
Code: Select all
export "exec gnome-session" > ~/.xinitrc
I can't figure out why the installation refuses to boot into gdm after the driver change. Has anybody else experienced this?

but if you have an antique ATI board, the prop. drivers will not work. In thios case, you need the xf86-video-ati
