Fresh install, gdm won't start after switch to fglrx

Postby Wreckedum » Sun Jul 20, 2014 1:34

I just completed a fresh install and followed the directions at https://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?titl ... in_Sabayon in order to switch to the proprietary AMD driver, however after rebooting I get dumped into a console login shell instead of gdm. I managed to get back into gnome by running:
Code: Select all
export "exec gnome-session" > ~/.xinitrc
startx

I can't figure out why the installation refuses to boot into gdm after the driver change. Has anybody else experienced this?

your AMD-ATI board?,model?

only models after the series 4, support the prop. drivers...

for some ATI prop. drivers working good in sabayon, see this:

https://forum.sabayon.org/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=28808&hilit=ATI+board

but if you have an antique ATI board, the prop. drivers will not work. In thios case, you need the xf86-video-ati driver
