How can I get back KDE 4.10.5 ?

Postby Ritana » Mon Sep 02, 2013 10:26

Hello Guys,

Does anyone know how to downgrade KDE to 4.10.5 ? Since my KDE has upgraded yesterday to 4.11 and it seems very buggy .

I mean I can't launch Amarok perhaps and (the most annoying thing) my search & launch desktop tend to forget my favorites after every restart or logout.

I've found the 4.10.5 version in Portage but no idea how to merge it. :-/

Thank you for kindly help,

Rita

You basically can't downgrade to KDE 4.10.5. Using emerge and portage will constitute mixing packaging managers and that will likely break your system. The AmaroK bug is a known bug (though it didn't affect me for once.) My advice is to wait patiently until the inevitable fixes come in a few days.

Okay, I will, thank you.

But wouldn't it be easier if the upgrading arrived with a few day or week delay, let the users use the stable (working) software versions? :D
(I use the weekly repository)

Amarok 2.7.1 is in weekly repository but it doesn't work with KDE-4.11 (see KDE-4.11 release notes).

Amarok 2.8 is in sabayonlinux.org.(https://packages.sabayon.org/quicksearc ... ok&x=0&y=0)

please wait amarko bumps

The Amarok issue is the smaller problem for me. I have some trouble with my Search and Launch desktop layout too.
(it simply 'forgets' my favorite apps and settings and this is very annoying :? )

Yes, I did, but doesn't matter. I can wait for the end of that short 2-3 months long period and my KDE will work again properly for a while. :P (til the launching of 4.12 version :P )
