Hello everyone.

After time back around here, I walked away from Sabayon since leaving gnome version 3, I did not like at all the little customization you can give.

I tried some alternative desktop like XFCE, E17, but missed compiz.

Reading some posts and forums, I was curious KDE for high customization you can give, but I want to clarify some doubts that I have:

Is it possible to clear jelly effect of the windows?

I can? Remove top and bottom bars to install windows decorator and cairo dock?

What is the current resource consumption has improved in this regard?

Is it stable KDE Sabayon?

Yes, it's stable.

I'm not really sure what clear jelly effect of the windows is, but you can have transparency and wobbly windows and good deal of what compiz offers/offered.

Yes, you can remove the top and bottom bars and add cairo dock. KDE is probably the most customizable DE out there for linux at the moment.

KDE's resource consumption is really great actually. There are many benchmarks available that show that using KDE is pretty much just as lightweight as using a lot of other DEs. Everybody has a different experience, but the overall consensus is that KDE has been solidly improving and most users are very happy with it now a days.

Lord_King, if you want to find out a bit about KDE and its configurability, you might find the following articles I wrote a while ago of some use:

answers to all your questions:

Yes do, jelly windows possible. Working in Kwin (KDE 3D Effects). Also Compiz works in KDE, less good that it works in XFCE, LXDE or MATE.
Compiz works Bad in GNOME3 and in Cinnamon, but Works good in XFCE, LXDE and MATE. Not works in E17 or Flux.

Remove panels for use Cairo-Dock, AWN or Superkaramba, yes possible!. For similar packages as, Desklets or GDesklets (for GNOME) i not tested then with KDE, but they working in MATE and GNOME2.

resource consumption is somewhat high in KDE, but depends of you configuration.

I use Sabayon 6 years ago. I use all Graphical env, mainly i use KDE. For me, KDE are the most stable Sabayon spins. Including, it is experienced with this since all the antique sabayons were KDE Centric!
