Can't get Akonadi Server to start in Sabayon 11 [Solved]

Post by sbdsr » Sat Feb 23, 2013 1:01

I went into system settings and one of the errors I recieved in trying to start the Akonadi server was this...qt-sql and mysql are installed...I'm using Sabayon 11
The QtSQL driver 'QSQLITE3' is required by your current Akonadi server configuration.
The following drivers are installed: QSQLITE, QMYSQL3, QMYSQL.
Make sure the required driver is installed.

When I tried to install Akondadi from the command line, I received this output....

Code: Select all

~ $ akonadictl start
Connecting to deprecated signal QDBusConnectionInterface::serviceOwnerChanged(QString,QString,QString)
 QSqlDatabase: QSQLITE3 driver not loaded

"akonadiserver" crashed too often and will not be restarted!

Anyone have any ideas...?

The QtSQL driver 'QSQLITE3' is required by your current Akonadi server configuration.
The following drivers are installed: QSQLITE, QMYSQL3, QMYSQL.
Make sure the required driver is installed.
Long story short: your QSQLITE3 driver is not installed :mrgreen:

I've searched and found a statement by KDE devs to not use SQLite3, but Gentoo devs think a different way.

However, what does stand in your ~/.config/akonadi/akonadiserverrc? Especially in this section:

Code: Select all

[%General]
Driver=QSQLITE3
should be the correct value :)

Since KDE don't recommend SQLite, it is hard to find some useful posts. The general approach is described here - with MySQL. You need libqsqlite.so:

Code: Select all

# find / -name "libqsqlite.so"
I think, you can adapt this thread to your problem as well.

The reason for this libqsql mismatch seems to be found in the point,
that SL 11 KDE is still delivered with KDE 4.9.5.
But this new akonadi-server is based on running under KDE 4.10, which is offered in Sabayon-Limbo repo.
This version 1.9.0 it depends on 'libQtSql.so.4'.
But (I don't know, how and why) akonadi slipped into upgrade stream for KDE 4.9.5, offered in Sabayon Weekly repo.
I think, when KDE 4.10 is part of the distro (Daily Build) or KDE 4.9.5 is offered to be upgraded to 4.10 then akonadi server should work.
But my question is, how to transfer my KDE-PIM data to the new KDE 4.10 PIM.
Maybe I can export old and import that file into the new PIM.

Ryuno-ki....the second link didn't work, but if that's the adding the mysql flag I loathe to do that...I don't want to bork my system, I'll wait and see if the userbase server comes back up to see exactly what the recommendation is...

But it looks like if linuxfluesterer is correct I may just have to wait until KDE 4.10 is available...lxnay say patience...LOL...we shall see...

Ok All is well I found the solution and it appears to work...I changed the driver to QMYSQL as suggested here in this forum....
