E-17 Problems

Postby TheRaven » Thu Nov 22, 2012 4:31

I wanted to check out the E-17 version. I downloaded both the 2012.11.18 & 2012.11.21 (Tonight). The major problem I am having with both, is that when I boot the live cd's, I am getting the login screen. There IS something wrong with them. For user I type "sabayonuser", and password is blank. Nothing works. You know, you guys could have set auto login when someone boots up the cd. You did it for the other versions. Can U HELP???????

Have you checked the md5sum, as well as the Integrity of the CD?
http://wiki.sabayon.org/index.php?title=HOWTO:_Checking_the_integrity_of_a_LiveCD_or_LiveDVD
If all okay, then it's probably a fault on the Iso.
No worries though, as you can still test the LiveCD, Following this guide:
http://wolf911.us/wgo/?p=743
If you also find that E17 isn't even on the liveCD, you can also use the same guide to install that.
Success.

May be errors in the video board driver.

try to restart the xdm. press CRTL+ALT+F1, login as root them:

Code: Select all
/etc/init.d/xdm restart

may also be some error in ISO or a package is missing. You may try also correct, testinf,"upgrading" the ISO in the RAM, in the Live.
for test carry out the commands

Code: Select all
sudo su
equo update force &&  equo upgrade

even In the ISO boot

I want you guys to know that I really appreciated your responses. I tried everything you guys posted above, but none of them worked at all. I am at my wits end.

Same problem here. Tried on different machines and in VirtualBox. There must be something wrong in the iso.

I think you can change "sabayonuser"'s password

CTRL+ALT+F1

login as root (no need root passworf)
Code: Select all
# passwd sabayonuser

now you can change the password

then restart xdm service
Code: Select all
# /etc/init.d/xdm restart

Log into "sabayonuser" with new password

ok. i tested the daily e17.iso, 11-21-2012 : it's pretty useless. Better file a bug, and wait
for new Iso's.
You can get E17 working, but the installer doesn't work; Anaconda is installed, but somehow it doesn't come up. Here's what i have done:
Upon starting the liveCD, CTRL-ALT-F1 DOES gives you a root prompt.
When checking Entropy for installed packages, i've found that E17 isn't even installed., so E17 is missing on the ISO.
What i did was:
Code: Select all
passwd sabayonuser

enter the new password
Then,
Code: Select all
equo install x11-wm/enlightenment-0.16.999.65643

followed by
Code: Select all
/etc/inid.d/xdm restart

and as a thank you, i got presented with the setup of E17.
After walking through the settings E17 got loaded.
On the Desktop, in the top left corner, i double clicked on the Home icon,
and select Desktop, where you'll find the icon to install Sabayon to Hard drive, but nothing happened.
So i opened the lx-terminal, and tried both "installer" and "liveinst"
Both gave the same result: nothing. No errors, and no Anaconda installer.
Code: Select all
[email protected] ~ $ installer
  No volume groups found
13:18:03 Starting graphical installation.
  No volume groups found
[email protected] ~ $

But no anaconda.....

Dailys are broke, but it's been sorted and the next batch of isos should be all good again. The next builds are like Late Sunday night. Try again Monday.
