Weather on Gnome Panel suddenly die...[Solved]

Postby alonsoty » Mon Jun 06, 2011 18:35

with latest updates (06 June) I've noticed there also present GnomePanel and some related libraries...

With this new version of panel the Weather applet and/or the Clock applet (if 'show weather' are set) suddenly died

I'm so lazy and I don't want to look out the window for the weather!

I think I'm getting old!
or maybe my laptop tells me about the breaking will come!

I noticed that many other Gnome applications no longer worked after last updates.
I ran the mischievous programs from the terminal and I found that many schema files were gone!

In the end i've solved re-installing:
Code: Select all
gnome-base/gsettings-desktop-schemas

it's a mystery

After installing gnome-base/gsettings-desktop-schemas it was fixed. (it never was installed here)

I think I found the solution.
gnome-base/gsettings-desktop-schemas gets pulled in when net-libs/glib-networking has the gnome useflag enabled.

Let me fix that in Entropy.

mmh... glib-networking! Probably yes
I not use banshee routinely, but I think the weather applet needs the "system.proxy.schema"...

Ciao :)

All libsoup schemas got moved to gnome-base/gsettings-desktop-schemas.
net-libs/glib-networking was supposed to pull it in as a dep but it didn't because it SOMEHOW got compiled with the gnome useflag disabled.

Joost, mine it's just a lucky approach!

...if I told you the times I've disintegrated my Gentoo by forcing about dependencies, you will laugh for hours and hours.
